Police Report

Suspicious behavior, fights and juvenile incidents

The following is a brief summary of police calls from Monday, June 13, to Tuesday, June 14.

Suspicious Behavior: A suspicious person was reported near Fox River Parkway and Highpoint Lane Monday about 3 p.m. when a man from a tan-colored vehicle loaded with fishing equipment approached a 6-year-old boy. After the mother yelled for her son, the man ran away. The people and the car involved in the incident were gone when police arrived.

Displayed Knife: A 20-year-old man was verbally warned by police after it was reported that, while stopped at the intersection of Broadway Avenue and Hwy. 164, he had displayed a large knife and made “lunging” motions toward people in another car about 4 p.m. Monday. The man apologized, saying it was lapse in judgment and that he had just bought the knife. The people from the other car did not wish to file a complaint.

Elder Abuse: Police are investing after staff at Westmoreland Health Center, 1810 Kensington Dr., reported Monday that a resident was abused over the weekend.

Fights

  • Two people were arrested after a fight in the 1800 block of West St. Paul Avenue. It was reported that a man was following two people who stole from him, then police heard yelling over the phone line.
  • A man was arrested following a call to police at Monday at 11:36 p.m. from the 300 block of Dodie Drive that the man beat up two women and was breaking windows in the parking lot.
  • Multiple arrests were made and tickets issued following a substantial multi-vehicle accident and fight reported at 11:16 p.m. Monday night on Northview Road in front of the Waukesha Expo.  
  • A fight was reported in the alley behind the 300 block of Dodie Drive Monday at 9:51 p.m. when the caller reported that 10 or more people were heard yelling. Upon arrival, a quiet group of people were observed, whom police advised about the recent noise.

Other

  • Police checking on a house in the 800 block of East Main Street Monday afternoon found that someone, possibly a homeless person, had broken into the house via an unlocked front window and moved a mattress to the second level. The owner, who lives in Shorewood, would speak to neighbors about the problem.
  • Police were called to the Schuetze Building, 1120 Baxter Street, Tuesday at 3:11 a.m. when a janitor reported that three men and one woman were pounding on the windows and trying to open the door. Police were not able to locate the people.
  • Police were called after a man was reported to be passed out near the dumpsters in the 1400 block of South West Avenue 11:23 p.m. Monday night. Police advised him about loitering and his conduct and sent him on his way since he was able to walk and speak clearly.
  • A man was advised by police after being seen walking with a hammer near Maple Avenue and Carroll Street Monday afternoon.
  • A man was arrested after being seen walking down the 1700 block of Chapman Drive in only his boxers and with his hands up in the air Monday at 12:30 p.m.

Juvenile Incidents

  • An arrest was made after staff at the Kwik Trip, 1809 W St Paul Ave, reported Monday at 1:22 p.m. that two juveniles took beef jerky and energy drinks.
  • A group of juveniles were reported to have been beating up another juvenile in the area of Garfield and Roberta avenues Monday at 5:39 p.m. The group was gone by the time police arrived; however 20 minutes later police found two of the children, who reported that the incident had involved paintball. The children were advised.
  • A resident in the 500 block of Bell Street reported Monday afternoon that her house had been egged for the third day in a row.
  • Police released a 14-year-old boy to his mother after it was reported that he had been on the roof of Hawthorne Elementary School, 1111 Maitland, with a group of kids on the ground, acting as lookout.
  • Children and their mother in the 2300 block of Madison Street were advised about the children’s behavior Monday afternoon after it was reported that they were throwing bags of garbage in the air and hitting them with bats, causing the garbage to fly into the fence and into a neighbor’s yard on Lander Lane.
