Police Report

Children misbehaving, firework and noise complaints, and intoxication

The following is a brief summary of police calls from Thursday and Friday, June 16 and 17.

Children misbehaving: Police were called about children throwing dead fish and frogs at people in Frame Park Thursday at 2:14 p.m. The caller said their mother was not stopping them. The children and their mother were gone when police arrived.

Suspicious man: Police were called Friday at 12:28 a.m. about a suspicious man in the 700 block of Crestwood Drive. A caller reported that she had seen the man, who appeared to have no place to go and who seemed to come out of some bushes, walking with a limp or unsteady gate down the road for the past two nights, late at night. He had a dark hoodie pulled around his head. The subject was gone upon police arrival.

Intoxicated driving: An arrest for intoxicated driving was made after a car was driven onto a lawn near South Street and North Friday at 2:12 a.m.

Noise complaint: A complaint about noise led to someone being taken into custody in the 400 block of Wisconsin Avenue Friday at 12:52 a.m.

Children and fireworks: Six or seven middle school boys were reported to have been throwing things and lighting off firecrackers in the 900 block of South University Drive Thursday at 8:54p.m. The boys were gone when police arrived.

More Fireworks: A man was advised after police received a call about fireworks Thursday at 8:39 p.m. in the 400 block of North Grand Boulevard. The man was advised on the fireworks ordinance and that future complaints may result in a citation.

Stolen purse: A purse was stolen after someone broke the driver’s side window of a Toyota Prius parked in the 1900 block of East Main Street Thursday evening.

Car accident: A three-car accident with injuries was reported near the intersection of Garfield and East avenues Thursday 5:20 p.m.  One of the drivers was cited for driving around the barricades.

Intoxication: A woman was reported to be laying down behind a building in the 500 block of North Grand Avenue Thursday at 4:37 p.m. The woman, who was intoxicated, was advised.

Homeless men: One man was taken into custody after someone called to report that two men who looked homeless were laying in the grass in the 1600 block of Arcadian Avenue Thursday at 11:36 p.m. The other man was sent on his way.

Don’t come back: Two men were advised not to return to Taco John’s, 317 N. Grand Ave., after a worker reported that they were hanging around Thursday evening.
