Pewaukee Man Faces Sex Charges After Sheriff's Department Sting

Alan E. Browning, 43, is accused of performing sex acts on a webcam that was being monitored by a Waukesha County detective.

A 43-year-old Pewaukee man is accused of sending sexually explicit videos to who he thought was a 15-year-old girl and attempting to rendezvous with the girl for sex, according to a criminal complaint filed in Waukesha County Circuit Court.

Alan E. Browning was charged Thursday in Waukesha County Circuit Court with using a computer to facilitate a child sex crime and four counts of attempting to cause a child to view sexual activity. If convicted, he faces up to 37 years initial confinement and $140,000 in fines.

Browning remains jailed in lieu of $10,000 bail.

Browning started chatting with a Waukesha County detective posing as a 15-year-old girl in a chat room in July 2012. Browning told the detective “maybe we could meet up sometime,” according to the complaints.

The conversations turned sexual when Browning contacted the undercover detective in August. When he was reminded that the girl was only 15 years old, he stopped talking to the girl, according to the complaint. But two days later, he asked the girl to hook up, made sexual comments and asked to have sex with her.

In December, the man started masturbating on a webcam several times for who he thought was the girl, the complaint states. The conversations and videos then stopped until June.

Browning was seen on video completing several sex acts, the complaint states. He made plans to meet up with the girl at a Pewaukee fast food restaurant on July 16.

Waukesha County authorities took Browning into custody when he arrived at the fast food restaurant. He admitted to the sexual activity via the webcam and to arriving at the restaurant so he could have sex with who he thought was a 15-year-old girl, according to the complaint.
