Born Free-I did not intentionally avoid OWI under a controlled substance. This blog was intended to discuss proposed legislation. To the best of my knowledge, there are no proposed changes to OWI (restricted controlled substance) or drug related OWI.

Impeach Now-I'm disappointed that you think that I only see OWI's as a paycheck. Perhaps you should check my resume-I was an ADA for Waukesha County for close to 8 years-I assure you, I have dealt with my fair share of families destroyed by drunk driving. Additionally, I am a part-time municipal Judge that has to deal with OWI from that perspective as well. That being said, I respect your position, but your opinion of me is unfounded.

Replyvocal local-do you truly expect me to be able to break down these costs? The purpose of my blog was not intended to support the process, but rather explain. I do not have answers to those questions. Regards, Mark Powers

Lynn, I think you missed the point where I indicated that a person may PERCEIVE a threat to their life-It is a hypothetical circumstance. I would not theorize on when it is appropriate or inappropriate to LEGALLY utilize lethal force to defend one's person.

ReplyMike, you hit the nail on the head! People seem to think that the transfer of prescription drugs is, "no big deal." It's a felony! Those drugs can kill people-that's why a prescription is required-good example, and thanks for the comments.

ReplySunrocket, thank-you for taking the time to comment. I agree completely as to the "cash only" school of thought. Check schemes are incredibly sophisticated. I have spoken to a number of law enforcement personnel that have indicated that many forged checks are hard to detect until the routing numbers are checked!
