Last week people throughout the United States participated in Read Across America. To keep the tradition going past last week, we found a few books that appeal to children of various ages. 1. American Girl Series The historical series reaches girls who are in the later elementary school years. Tales girls living during the Great Depression, World War II, the Revolutionary War, the Civil War and more will stay with your daughters far past the first time they read the stories about the different characters. They will read tales of bravery, shenanigans and learning with the characters in the books while learning about themselves. 2. Waukesha is full of tiny little surprises. Waukesha Patch took a look at five different boutiques in the city where people can find unique items that are special to the area. 1. Little Swiss Clock Shop A long-time downtown staple, the Little Swiss Clock Shop is characterized by the giant stuffed Winnie the Pooh that greets customers as they step in the store. Five Nonprofit Groups That Are Making A Difference in Our Community 1. NEW BEGINNINGS CHRISTIAN CHURCH The church itself does not have a permanent building, as it holds services in a city parks and recreation building. Still, the church goes beyond its borders and is active in community help organizations. The church finds needs – although it has its own needs – and seeks to better the community. 2.
