It’s safe to say it’s been an interesting year. 2013 is knocking down the door but before it is time to say goodbye to 2012, Waukesha Patch is taking a look at the top 5 stories of 2012. Paul Ryan, R-Janesville, will not face prosecution for an Election Day event where he gave supporters and voters a sub sandwich and a soda from Cousins Subs in Waukesha. Who has the best “decked” house in Waukesha? According to users who voted in our annual Deck the House contest, this home on Center Road - timed to music - has the best holiday lights in Waukesha. We had tons of national entries in this year’s Deck the House contest and in our quest to find the most over-the-top holiday decorations in the country, we’ve seen everything from a life-size Santa to holiday lights so bright they could blind the neighbors. We loved showcasing everyone’s holiday spirit, but Deck the House isn’t over yet. The cold rain didn’t keep away the hundreds of holiday runners who participated in Downtown Waukesha’s Santa Run/Walk on Sunday. The run/walk benefits the Waukesha Salvation Army. Santas, elves, fairies and all sorts of Christmas creatures ran and walked the 5K as part of the Downtown Business Association’s Silver Bells campaign. Whether it’s one Grinch or multiple Grinches, a holiday Scrooge has been damaging decorations throughout the city. Nearly a dozen homes were hit over the weekend, according to the Waukesha Police Department, with vandals damaging lights and slashing inflatable decorations. Waukesha Police Lt.
