He is an idiot. The girlfriend is an even bigger idiot for concealing the heroin kit and not telling the police officers. She could have easily played a part in his death. He needs to get away from her, and she from him. They both need to seek healthier relationships, as each has shown that this current set up is good for neither of them.   more ›

Waukesha Man Charged in Tosa Woman's Fatal Heroin Overdose

In 'Len Bias' case, the man from Waukesha and a man from Milwaukee were the alleged dealers who supplied her with the heroin that killed her.

A young woman is found dead in her home in Wauwatosa. Two men are charged with causing her death, although there is no solid evidence that either one of them ever so much as touched her. Rather, they are charged with selling her the heroin that killed her in an overdose, under what is called the “Len Bias law.” And it isn’t the first time. “We’ve had three previous cases,” said Wauwatosa Police Capt. Jeff Sutter, “and we have two more under investigation. “We’ve been a little bit secretive about it up to now – not because we didn’t want people to know there was heroin in Wauwatosa, but because we didn’t want the bad people to know our methods and how closely we were investigating them. “But we’ve decided it’s time people knew. It’s here. …

I'm proud to see someone trying to be helpful rather than condemning these kids. I have commented before and I think its really sad that we are not giving an incentive to save lives instead of destroying more. I know that a lot of heroin addicts simply started out by seeing a doctor and getting a prescription for painkillers. It takes 3 days or depending on the person to build a tolerance, then …   more ›

Man's Fatal Overdose Prompts Warnings of Heroin Rise

A 22-year-old Brookfield man found dead from an apparent drug overdose is one of several recent drug deaths in the county, experts say.

A 22-year-old Brookfield man's fatal drug overdose — possibly from heroin — has law enforcement and drug counselors warning parents that prescription drug and heroin use is on the rise. "There have been four very recent overdose deaths that we're aware of," said Claudia Roska, executive director of the Addiction Resource Council in Waukesha. "I'm not sure that everyone was in Waukesha County but very close." Roska said in her 24 years with the council, "this is the first time I've seen this much heroin use in Waukesha County." Brookfield Police Capt. Jim Adlam said, "It's making a comeback and it's very scary. Once you're addicted, it's hard to get off of it. "It's evil," he said. A Brookfield couple called 911 about 7:30 a.m. Friday after…

Great point to stress, Sandra, on the home medicine cabinets. One expert I talked to today said often drug users will head straight to a bathroom of whatever house they're in and rifle through their cabinets, whether it be grandma's house or a stranger.   more ›
