Adam Neylon Sworn Into the State Assembly

Pewaukee Republican won seat in special April 2 election.

Editor's Note: The following news release was submitted to Patch via State Rep. Adam Neylon's office. Rep. Adam Neylon (R-Pewaukee) today became the newest member of the 101st Wisconsin State Legislature.  Rep. Neylon took the oath of office Tuesday after winning a special election in the 98th Assembly District, which includes the communities of Pewaukee, Sussex, and portions of Waukesha and Lisbon. “I am excited to join the Assembly Republican majority and work on legislation to help grow our state’s economy,” said Rep. Neylon. “It is such an honor to serve the people of the 98th Assembly District at the State Capitol.” At 28 years old, Rep. Neylon is one of the younger GOP representatives in the Assembly. “I hope to usher in a new …

Recount for Downtown District Planned for Friday

Challenger Lenny Miller was seven votes shy of Alderman Roger Patton, so he requested a recount in the April 2 election.

The recount between District 11 aldermanic candidates Lenny Miller and Roger Patton will be held Friday. The downtown district election was close. Patton defeated Miller by seven votes after the official canvassing was recorded 202 votes for Patton and 195 votes for Miller. Miller picked up one vote last week after an absentee ballot came into City Hall, according to interim Clerk/Treasurer Gina Kozlik. Miller was surprised by the results, he said, because people he had spoken with during the election shared their hopes for a new alderman in the downtown district. “I just want to rule out any machine errors and human errors,” Miller told Patch last week. “I don’t suspect fraud or anything, I just want to make sure everything was done and …

Recount Possible in Waukesha’s Downtown District’s Election

Lenny Miller is planning to ask for a recount after unofficial tallies put him behind Roger Patton by eight votes.

A recount is possible in Waukesha’s District 11 aldermanic election after unofficial results put Roger Patton as the winner over Lenny Miler by eight votes. Miller told The Waukesha Freeman he will request a recount after votes are canvassed. The newspaper is reporting the $25 for the recount expenses will have to be born by Miller. Patton received 202 votes in the downtown district to remain on the Waukesha Common Council to Miller’s 194 votes. The pair faced each other in 2010 when Patton was first elected as an alderman.  Miller told Waukesha Patch on Friday he has to wait until the official canvassing is completed. “I just want to rule out any machine errors and human errors,” Miller said. “I don’t suspect fraud or anything, I just …

Adam Neylon Wins State Assembly Seat

Meanwhile, three incumbents on Waukesha School Board went unchallenged.

Adam Neylon won the special State Assembly race Tuesday night with 4,140 total votes after no Democrats ran in the race. The 28-year-old Republican defeated four other Republicans in February's primary in a close election between Neylon and retired Pewaukee Police Chief Ed Baumann. State Sen. Paul Farrow previously held the 98th Assembly District seat, which includes Pewaukee, Sussex and portions of Waukesha. Farrow was elected to the Assembly and Senate in November when he ran in both the assembly race and in the special primary election againts State. Rep. Chris Kapenga. The 33rd Senate District seat was previously held by Rich Zipperer, who is now a top employee in Gov. Scott Walker's administration. Three Waukesha School Board …

Waukesha Common Council Election Results [UPDATED]

Ten aldermanic seats were up for election on the Waukesha Common Council.

There will be two new faces on the Waukesha Common Council. All incumbents that were seeking re-election survived during Tuesday's election. The terms are for three years – with the exception of District 6, which is for a one-year term – and aldermen will be sworn into office in two weeks. *Bolded text indicates the winner of the race. Results are unofficial until canvassing.  Thieme, 56, has been on the Waukesha Common Council since 2008. He regained his position while Myers, a local pastor and counselor, unsucessfully tried to unseat him. Jankowski and Krumins both sought the District 6 appointment after Brian White passed away after only one year in office. The council appointed Jankowski to serve until the April election. The seat is …
