When Is Waukesha Woodman's Opening?

Waukesha's newest grocery is now taking employment applications.

Wonder when the Waukesha Woodman’s will open? The employee-owned grocery store is scheduled for a July 1 opening date, according to a tweet from the Waukesha Woodman’s store @Woodmansfood40. The store is currently taking employment applications as it starts hiring for the new store. Construction on the store started in June 2012. The 243,753-square-foot facility will be located at 1600 E. Main St. and plans currently include eight outlots that will be developed into future commercial uses.  The project will create 219 jobs and increase property values by $15 million. Waukesha Committee Advances Woodman's Financing

Woodman's Food Market could receive city funding incentives to locate to Waukesha.

The proposed tax incremental financing district that would help lure Woodman’s Food Market to Waukesha keeps moving through the approval process. The Finance Committee unanimously voted in favor of the financing plan, which moves the funding request on to the Waukesha Common Council, which is scheduled to meet Nov. 1. The property at the former Spancrete site at East Main Street and Highway 164 was designated as being in blight by the Plan Commission earlier this month. The 238,873-square-foot building will have eight outlots for additional commercial businesses. Woodman’s Food Market Plans Move a Step Forward

Waukesha Plan Commission advances tax incremental financing plan.

An employee-owned grocery store that could include some city financing cleared another step of hurdles as it plans to begin construction in 2012 when the Plan Commission gave officials with Woodman’s Food Market several approvals Wednesday night. The property at the former Spancrete site at East Main Street and Highway 164 was designated as being in blight by the Plan Commission. The Plan Commission also established boundaries and a project plan for the grocery story, which includes eight outlots for additional retail stores, after a public hearing that did not draw any public comments. Woodman’s Food Market is expected to open in summer of 2013 if all plans move forward. The store plans on hiring 119 full-time and 100 part-time employees…
