The Blackshirts win 71-68 to advance in WIAA playoffs.
An impressive half-court shot and a slam dunk in the first half of the Waukesha South High School's playoff basketball game against Hartford Union High School didn't appear to be enough to put the Blackshirts in the lead. Trailing at the half, the Blackshirts made a comeback to win 71-68 in overtime Tuesday night. Waukesha South will face Germantown High School on Friday.
The Wolverines top the Classic 8 Conference after delivering Arrowhead its first conference loss.
A lot was riding on Friday night’s girls basketball game at Waukesha West High School. Classic 8 Conference rivals Arrowhead High School were undefeated in conference play – 5-0 – but so were the Wolverines. Waukesha West’s girls fought hard to take the top of the conference when they defeated Arrowhead 58-50. The game was close until Michelle Farrow hit a three-point shot in the third quarter, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. "That shot was just enormous, they were steamrolling us," Wolverines Coach Mark Busalacchi told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. "They had all the momentum, we kind of had our heads down a little bit and she was able to make a huge play."
