The University of Wisconsin-Waukesha is one of six campuses that will offer a new bachelor of applied arts and sciences degree completion program in the fall of 2013. HLC evaluators visited all UW Colleges campuses and UW Colleges Online in November and met with faculty, staff, students, administrators and stakeholders, according to a release. The following local residents were among 227 students named to the fall 2012 semester dean's list at the University of Wisconsin-Waukesha by Dean/CEO Harry Muir: Honors are awarded on three levels. To receive highest honors, a student must earn a 4.0 (or straight A) grade-point average (GPA) in the semester's work. High honors are awarded to students who achieve a GPA between 3.99 and 3.75, and honors students earn between 3.74 and 3.5 GPA.

Elizabeth A. Austin was charged Wednesday with bail jumping, carrying a concealed weapon, resisting an officer and disorderly conduct. She faces up to 30 months in jail and $31,000 if convicted of the four misdemeanor charges. Joe Foy, a former assistant professor of political science, will begin the new position Aug. 1. The former associate dean at UW-Waukesha passed away.
University of Wisconsin-Waukesha Dean/CEO Harry Muir has announced that Joe Foy will be the college’s new associate dean. Foy, who previously served as an associate professor of political science at UW-Waukesha before leaving last academic year to teach at UW-Parkside, will start Aug. 1. “Joe brings incredible energy and leadership skills to the position,” Muir said. “Since Joe is returning to the campus, he will be able to ‘hit the ground running’ upon his start date.” Foy said he was excited to return to UW-Waukesha and is optimistic about the great work being done on campus. “We have wonderful staff and faculty who are among the very best in the UW System and a terrific community for students of all backgrounds to come to learn and earn…

A 17-year-old camp counselor is facing charges after he allegedly tried to put together a sexual rendezvous with a 12-year-old girl, according to a criminal complaint. Joshua T. Thompson was charged in Waukesha County Circuit Court on Friday with one count of child enticement. If convicted, he faces up to 25 years in prison and $100,000 in fines. According to the criminal complaint: On June 13, Thompson contacted the girl via Facebook and had a five-hour conversation with her that turned sexually explicit. Show me in the constitution and in the 2nd Amendment that the mentally ill or the criminally deranged can't wield a gun. If you support any form of background check you clearly can't stand the 2nd amendment. In fact, Patriots in the state capitol like Bill Kramer have been very vocal that the even having a permit is just awful. I say no permit, no training and support the 2nd Amendment!   more ›
