Many stores at Brookfield Square opened their doors at midnight on Black Friday and customers flocked to the mall to take advantage of the early-morning deals.
Toys R Us and Sears beat the rest of Brookfield Square merchants to the punch by opening at 8 p.m. on Thanksgiving, but many other stores were right behind with an opening time of midnight. While there were long lines and big crowds waiting for the stores to open, once the gates went up foot traffic was managed quite well and everyone appeared to be in a festive spirit. The parking lots saw a lot of traffic, but did not appear overcrowded on Thursday night or Friday.

In his weekly radio address, governor thanks Wisconsin's volunteers, especially those who helped out victims of Hurricane Sandy.

Regular DMV hours will resume again Monday.
All Wisconsin Department of Motor Vehicle service centers will be closed Thursday and Friday in observance with Thanksgiving. The DMV’s automated phone system will remain active so motorists can schedule road appointments and have access to recorded information. The department’s website will also be active during the extended holiday weekend. Titling a registration services are offered by some police stations, grocery stores and financial institutions, with a complete list found on the Wisconsin Department of Transportation’s website. All DMV offices will open again Monday and resume regular business hours.

Traffic could be busiest on Sunday, as gun deer season comes to a close.
A few significant road construction projects present the promise of slower traffic over the busy Thanksgiving weekend. Be prepared in order to make the best of it. According to the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, here are some of the more significant projects that could impact the trip to grandma’s house: Those who are staying in Milwaukee in order to bring Black Friday to its knees should note these two sticky spots: Weather should not slow you much, as highs are expected mostly in the 50s in southeastern Wisconsin, with chances of just light rain. More than 45,000 people have signed a petition calling for the Canadian rock band to be replaced from the nationally televised halftime show.
Nickelback? Step back! Detroit Lions fans are rallying against the Canadian rockers after they were announced as the halftime band for the Thanksgiving game versus our own Green Bay Packers. Dennis Guttman, a student at the University of Michigan, has started a petition to ask the Lions to drop Nickelback from the rock band’s scheduled appearance at the Nov. 24 game. The petition rails against the group, asking "Does anyone even like Nickelback?" One commenter, Eva Blankinship, said she would "rather drink bleach than listen to Nickelback and have them associated with Detroit." As of Tuesday, Nov. 8, more than 45,000 people have signed Guttman’s online petition, and the pushback against Nickelback has drawn attention from national media …
