Waukesha County Spa Shooting Victim Remembered as 'Full of Life'

Family of Maelyn Lind share their memories of spa employee who was described as a "hero" for her actions on that tragic day.

“I wish I could have been in her place.” Those were the words Tuesday evening of Maelyn Lind’s choked-up father, Keith Hanson, after Maelyn’s family held a news conference to commemorate her memory. Hanson said that the tragedy – Maelyn was one of three women who died in the Azana Salon & Spa shooting Sunday in Brookfield - had made him initially question his faith. Then, he realized, “she had to do what she did. She did what was right. God was calling her at this time. She went straight to heaven.” What Maelyn did was save the daughter of Zina Haughton, who was the shooter’s main target. But that was just like Maelyn, 38, family members said. She was a woman always willing to help others, and she loved children. Maelyn Lind’s 19-year-old …

One-Time Tripoli Clown, 76, Arrested After Shooting at Police

Two people injured in incident involving man who violated restraining order filed against him when he made contact with his ex-wife in Waukesha.

The quick actions of Waukesha police officers prevented a tragedy Tuesday afternoon after a 76-year-old man shot at them while they were interviewing his ex-wife about a domestic violence incident at her home. “The suspect pointed a long gun at the officers and shot at the officers,” said Police Chief Russell Jack. “The officers then returned fire. The officers disengaged from the residence with the victim.” The man was arrested without incident at 5:16 p.m. and no officers were shot, according to Jack. Patch is not naming the man until he has been charged. He was the director of clowns for the Tripoli Shrine Center in 2008, according to the group's website. “One officer suffered a minor injury while securing the victim,” Jack said. “The …

Moviegoers 'Shocked' by Colorado Theater Shooting

An armed gunman raided a movie theater in Colorado during a midnight showing of the new Batman movie, "The Dark Knight Rises," killing at least 12 people and wounding many more.

Though it happened several states over — in Colorado — the news of at least 12 people dead and dozens of people injured during a midnight showing of the new Batman movie, "The Dark Knight Rises," really hit home for some Milwaukee area residents. "It's scary. I know people that went to the midnight show here and if I was able to I would have gone to one," Stephen Milek posted on the Greendale Patch Facebook page. "What should have been an exciting weekend for movie fans is now overshadowed by this senseless tragedy. " Lisa Miller wrote on the Greenfield Patch Facebook page that she would actually be hesitant to hit the theaters after hearing the news. "Tragedy can strike anywhere, any time, and no one is immune," Miller wrote. "We can't …

Actually Vigilanti and Matt, there are a couple legal paths for civilians to own them. And it may be Vigilanti that in your particular world view you don't see any need for anyone to own these, but there are others that do. Part of living in a free society includes the possibility that others may own something that you don't want or care for.   more ›

They caught the murderer... big surprise. Who else kills another man in cold blood for Newports and Hostess snacks. If you want to be a good citizen, get your concealed carry permit. There's an epidemic going on: riots at Summerfest, State Fair, St. Patricks, and Juneteenth. It's time someone does something about this problem before they turn Wisconsin into Somalia.   more ›
