Sensenbrenner Will Again Seek Re-election

U.S. Congressman Jim Sensenbrenner on Wednesday announced that he is again a candidate for re-election to represent Wisconsin's 5th Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives.

U.S. Congressman Jim Sensenbrenner on Wednesday announced that he is again a candidate for re-election to represent Wisconsin's 5th Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives.  Sensenbrenner has served in Congress since 1978, and has been re-elected each election since 1980. He is currently Vice Chairman of the Committee on Science and Technology and he also serves on the Committee on the Judiciary.  Sensenbrenner is also Chairman of the Crime, Terrorism and Homeland Security Subcommittee. “Today, I am announcing that I am a candidate for re-election in 2012.  The 2012 election will be one of the most important America has ever faced,” Sensenbrenner said.  “As a result of the redistricting process that occurs every 10 …

Pain at the Gas Pump Continues to Hurt Families, Businesses

Obama Administration at fault for advocating for policies that only increase our country's dependency on foreign oil and prohibit domestic production.

On Sunday, the average price for a gallon of unleaded gasoline in the Milwaukee area hit $4.07. When President Obama took office, it was $1.89. Higher energy costs are a burden on American families and threatening our economic recovery.      In 2011, the average household spent an estimated $4,155 at the pump.  In total that represents 8.4 percent of what the median family makes annually, money that could be spent elsewhere when times are tough.   Surging gas prices hit Americans not only the pump, but also at the grocery store. As gas prices increase transportation costs, small businesses and large distributors alike will shift that price burden to the consumers. Continued political uncertainty in the oil-producing regions puts the world’…

Obama Makes a Presidential Power Grab

President ignored the Constitution when he made a "recess appointment" when the Senate was not in recess.

In an alarming overstep of executive power, President Obama bypassed the constitutional nomination process and appointed a head to the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, an agency created by the Dodd-Frank law, and three new members to the National Labor Relations Board. This decision is an unprecedented power grab that ignores the checks and balances written into our Constitution. This reflects a growing resolve within the Obama Administration to engage in “my way or the highway” gamesmanship with Congress. According to Article II of the Constitution, the president only has the power to make recess appointments when the Senate is not in session. If the Senate had been in recess when this occurred, then President Obama would have been …

Sensenbrenner Says Walker Opponents Likely Will Force Recall Election, Hurt State's Progress

Days after opponents launched a recall effort of Gov. Scott Walker, Brookfield residents expressed concerns to U.S. Rep. Jim Sensenbrenner in an attempt to find some answers.

U.S. Rep. Jim Sensenbrenner says he believes opponents of Gov. Scott Walker will get enough signatures to hold a recall election. But whom they'll persuade to run against him is anyone's guess. Residents attending Sensenbrenner's town hall meeting at the Brookfield Public Safety Building Sunday night asked the congressman to predict what is coming and who the Democrats have in mind to run against Walker. “Ask them,” Sensenbrenner laughed. He said he also is eager to learn the likely challenger. At a rally Saturday in Madison attended by an estimated 25,000 to 30,000 people, former U.S. Sen. Russ Feingold signed the recall petition but said he has no intentions of running for governor. Recall organizers said they had obtained more than 105,…

Walker was under oath at the US Congress hearing. There is also a video where Walker admits (under oath ) that his cutting out of collective bargaining did NOT save the state money. Where Are the 5 Million Jobs, Mr. President?

It's clear that giving subsidies to 'green energy' companies is not the way to boost employment.

The Obama Administration has repeatedly claimed that green jobs will be our nation’s economic saving grace. Putting millions of Americans back to work while creating an industry that will “define the 21st century,” according to Vice President Biden. The president promised green energy government subsidies would create 5 million good-paying jobs. The facts point to an alarming alternative. President Obama has spent billions of taxpayer dollars on solar subsidies, but has very little long-term sustainable job growth to show for it. We recently learned that Solyndra, a solar panel manufacturing facility, filed for bankruptcy after accepting a $535 million federal loan guarantee. As a result, thousands of workers lost their jobs, and the …

Sensenbrenner Says Negative Ads Created Political Polarization

Congressman tells Sussex residents he doesn't support negative campaigning, continues his support of repealing health care reform.

U.S. Rep. F. James Sensenbrenner, R-Menomonee Falls, said the dramatic shift in polarization in this country can be credited to negative attack ads and how effective they are in drawing voters to one candidate as opposed to another. Sensenbrenner said negative ads are very effective tools for candidates to draw voters to them in an election cycle and therefore have become more prominent in the past two decades, which has in turn led to more polarization of the country. “Just go back to the height of the recall elections and all you heard about was why Alberta Darling was awful and why Sandy Pasch was awful, but you never heard about what they had accomplished,” he said. “I think (negative ads) are disgusting. I don’t believe in negative …

Rep S complains about negative ads while admitting that they work. If he ever got a serious challenger he would immediately resort to the same tactics. Rep S says negative ads have increased recently. Doesn't he remember the Goldwater 'Daisy' ads? Have you ever looked at campaign flyers from the 1800's? Rep S wants the ACA repealed, even though he has done nothing in his long time as congressman …   more ›
