Waukesha high school students want to take responsibility for inappropriate dance moves at school functions like prom, but the Waukesha School Board may still take official action.
While the Waukesha School District is still looking to ban grinding and other sexually suggestive dance moves at prom and other school dances, the students are starting to take responsibility on their own. Superintendent Todd Gray told the Waukesha School Board’s Policy Committee that he has met with the principals and several “good” students at the area high schools. The students told him grinding hasn’t been as significant of a problem as thought. Additionally, principals are watching for the inappropriate sexual behaviors. Waukesha South High School set up ping pong tables at the last school dance, Gray added. “They don’t feel it as a point where it is potentially scaring kids away,” said Gray about the students’ thoughts on grinding. “…

The Waukesha School Board is looking at ways to keep dirty dancing out of the high schools.
Waukesha School Board Member Karin Rajnicek was shocked when she learned what grinding was – and that it happens at school dances in Waukesha. “I had to Google grinding,” Rajnicek said. “I prayed actually after I saw what it looked like and what people were doing because I wanted those images out of my head. … We wouldn’t let it happen during the hallway during school, we wouldn’t let it happen at an activity after hours or at an athletic event or any other time.” Grinding is essentially a dance involving close contact and simulated sexual moves. After a week of polling, the best places to buy a prom dress and rent a suit have been chosen by Patch readers.
In one of our largest Readers' Choice segments yet, Patch polled readers in Brookfield, Wauwatosa, Waukesha, Menomonee Falls, Sussex and Muskego asking which stores carry the best prom dresses and suit rentals. The eligible stores in the area were: Prom dresses Tuxedos/Suits Winning by a hair, the best place to buy a prom dress is Jess Fleur Fun in Waukesha, and the best place to rent a suit or tuxedo is Men's Wearhouse on Bluemound Road. Waukesha North High School's prom was held at the Marcus Center for the Performing Arts in Milwaukee on Saturday.
Dinner and dancing at Waukesha North High School's prom Saturday was held at the Marcus Center for the Performing Arts in Milwaukee. The theme for prom was A Night on the Nile, and James Blackburn and Amy Wielgus were named prom king and queen.

First I am not suggesting there is a thing wrong with your service. If the kids want that kind of a party---go for it. However are we asking too much of people many of whom can drive a car and are nearly old enough to VOTE that they be able to act reasonable for a few hours for a formal event?   more ›
