Waukesha man was taken into custody on a mental hold after he was throwing appliances out a second-floor window, according to a criminal complaint.
A Waukesha man who was throwing appliances out a second-story window on Park Avenue threatened to kill “everyone” with a machete, according to a criminal complaint. Gerald T. Kribs, 50, was charged Monday in Waukesha County Circuit Court with disorderly conduct and possession of drug paraphernalia. He faces up to four years and four months in jail if convicted because he has previous convictions. According to the criminal complaint: The Waukesha Police Department was called to the 400 block of West Park Avenue at 12:23 a.m. Dec. 23 for a report that Kribs threw a TV, an air conditioner unit and a microwave out the second floor window. Some people voted for two or more presidential candidates on the same ballot, area elections officials say.
Elections officials from several Milwaukee suburbs reported issues with overvoting during Tuesday's presidential election, and one city said the problem caused them to worry whether they would have enough ballots. Greenfield City Clerk Jennifer Goergen said the city ordered enough ballots for 110 percent of the registered voting population, however, when someone overvotes — votes for more than one person in a race — that person can get a second or even a third ballot. In Greenfield, that problem made the ballot pile dwindle. The city did have enough ballots by the times the polls closed. "We’ve tried to correct that," Goergen said Tuesday evening. President Barack Obama still leads Republican challenger Mitt Romney by double digits, Democrat Tammy Baldwin's edge over Republican Tommy Thompson in U.S. Senate race is lessening, new Marquette University Law School poll shows.
A poll released Wednesday by Marquette University shows President Barack Obama maintaining a sizable lead over Republican Mitt Romney among likely Wisconsin voters. Two weeks ago, Obama led Romney 54 to 40 percent, according to the poll. The latest poll, released the same day at the first presidential debate, has Obama's lead is down to 11 points — 53 to 42 percent. The U.S. Senate race, though, between Democrat U.S. Rep. Tammy Baldwin and former Gov. Tommy Thompson shows some signs of tightening. In August, Thompson led Baldwin by 9 points, but in September, results flipped, giving Baldwin the 9-point nod. But Wednesday's poll has Baldwin with the edge by a smaller margin — 48 to 44 percent. That's barely outisde the poll's margin of …

President Barack Obama’s campaign trail led him to Milwaukee Saturday evening, where he rallied thousands of supporters. People filled the BMO Harris Pavilion at the Summerfest grounds and cheered on Obama as he spoke about saving the middle class if elected to a second term.

It's time for government to get out of the way and let small businesses do what they do best.
As my constituents in Wisconsin know, times are tough for small businesses. Regulations, new taxes, and careless spending have left many small business owners feeling helpless and abandoned. According to a report released last week by the Associated General Contractors of America, Wisconsin lost the second-highest percentage of construction jobs in the country. There are various factors that go into a frustrating employment number like that, but overly burdensome regulations should not be one of them. My House colleagues and I last week passed the Red Tape Reduction and Small Business Job Creation Act to provide certainty to the economy. Not only does health care law expands the role of government to unprecedented levels, its taxes also decimate our religious liberties.
The Affordable Care Act, often called Obamacare, gives the federal government the tools to tax religiously-affiliated schools, hospitals, universities and soup kitchens right out of existence if they object to a government mandate. Last week, I voted to repeal Obamacare because the entire law is bad policy, the mandate expands the role of government to unprecedented levels, and the taxes decimate our religious liberties. This cannot stand. We have heard a lot about the mandates in the law, but we have not heard much about these hidden taxes on religious freedom. It's over, but was this a smart move for the U.S.?
The Iraq War is over. This nine-year confrontation with terrorism brings questions about the stability of the region. But the biggest questions of all remain to be answered, was it worth it? Did we accomplish our goals? This Huffington Post story points out the costs -- 100,000 Iraqi lives, 4,500 American lives, and a price tag of $800 billion. But the story fails to point out the psychological impact on the troops that came home, the soldiers that live with physical and emotional scars. A CBS story on how much money was spent on infrastructure projects in Iraq gives a mixed review of whether the projects were completed. President Barack Obama confirmed tonight that a small team of U.S. troops killed Osama Bin Laden in a firefight. No Americans were harmed and care was taken to minimize civilian casualties. The U.S. military has taken custody of Bin Laden's body. Once the news broke, jubilant crowds gathered outside the White House, waving American flags and chanting "USA!" Bin Laden was found at a mansion 60 miles from the capitol of Pakistan. The President said that Pakistani intelligence helped with the operation, which took place on Sunday.
