Probation Ordered in Overdose Death

A Brookfield woman will serve four years probation and avoid prison after she gave oxycodone pills to a Waukesha man who later overdosed and died.

A Brookfield woman who provided the oxycodone that lead to the death of Waukesha resident Matthew D. Dziatkiewicz will avoid prison. Jessica J. Hintz, 26, pleaded guilty in Waukesha County Circuit Court on Thursday to felony first-degree reckless homicide by delivery of drugs. Waukesha County Circuit Judge Kathryn Foster sentenced Hintz to four years probation. She could have faced up to 40 years in prison. Prosecutors said that in November 2011, Hintz got a bag of oxycodone pills from a friend at a bar in Milwaukee and late on Nov. 4, she ingested two while Dziatkiewicz, 25, took five of the pills and consumed alcohol. Trial Date Set in Waukesha Overdose Death Case

Two men will stand trial on first-degree reckless homicide charges alleging they supplied heroin to a Waukesha man who overdosed and died inside a car.

Two men will stand trial in September for allegedly supplying heroin to a Waukesha man who overdosed and died while being driven home in February. Brandon M. Ward, 25, of Waukesha and Coleon M. Gallion, 25, of Milwaukee, will stand trial on first-degree reckless homicide charges Sept. 18 in Waukesha County Circuit Court for the overdose death of Justin L. Schulthess. If convicted, they each face up to 40 years in prison and $100,000 in fines. According to the criminal complaint: On Feb. 21,  Schulthess drove Ward to Milwaukee to purchase from Ward’s source, Gallion, who also goes as “Little C,” near North 35 Street and Park Hill. One Defendent in Len Bias Case Appears Headed for Plea Deal

Waukesha man who supplied heroin that led to the death of a Wauwatosa teen has reached a deal with prosecutors, who are still working on a deal with a second suspect in the case.

One of two men charged in the heroin overdose death of a Wauwatosa teenager may avoid a trial as part of a plea deal with prosecutors. Attorneys told Milwaukee County Circuit Court Judge David Borowski on Friday that a plea deal has been reached with Daniel Lee Birtic, 23, of Waukesha, on charges of first-degree reckless homicide for supplying heroin to Alexandra Michelle Hopping, 19, who overdosed and died inside a Wauwatosa home. The hearing is scheduled for May 14, but should the deal fall through, his trial will begin June 11. No details of the tentative agreement were released, but it is likely Birtic would agree to plead guilty either to a reduced charge or for a pre-arranged sentencing deal. Woman Charged with Reckless Homicide in Heroin Overdose Death

Madison woman is charged under Len Bias law after she allegedly supplied heroin to a Waukesha man who later overdosed and died.

A 24-year-old Madison woman is facing homicide charges under the state’s Len Bias law for the November overdose death of a Waukesha man. Natasha A. Hedstrom, was charged in Waukesha County Circuit Court Tuesday with one count of first-degree reckless homicide, one count of possession of drug paraphernalia and one count of possession of a controlled substance in the overdose death of Shawn Ropel, 30. If convicted, she could face up to 40 years in prison and $101,000 in fines. According to the criminal complaint: Hedstrom met Ropel in November and helped him obtain heroin from drug dealers she knew on the north side of Milwaukee.
