Officer of the Year Plays Influential Role for New Cops

Waukesha Police Officer Jeffrey Hennen was honored on Wednesday by the Waukesha Optimist Club.

Waukesha Police Officer Jeffrey Hennen was on patrol when he spotted three kids playing basketball by themselves.  No parents were around to play with them, no dads teaching them how to shoot baskets. Hennen, a training officer, walked over to them with his trainee. They shot baskets with the kids for a few minutes before Hennen glanced over at their backpacks. “Did you get your homework done?” Hennen asked them. “When are you going home to eat?” That moment made an impression on his trainee, now Deputy Police Dennis Angle, who told the story during the Waukesha Optimist Club’s Respect for Law Program on Wednesday. Waukesha County Honoring National Police Week With Memorial Service

The public ceremony will take place Wednesday in honor of National Police Week and National Peace Officers Memorial Day.

In recognition of National Police Week and National Peace Officers Memorial Day, the Waukesha County Police Chaplains Association is holding a ceremony to honor fallen officers.  Law enforcement officers, families and the public are invited to come and join in the annual Waukesha County Police Memorial Service held on Wednesday, May 15 at 7 p.m. at the Abundant Life Apostolic Church located at 995 S. Sawyer Rd., Oconomowoc.  The Wisconsin State Patrol Honor Guard will present the colors and the Village of Menomonee Falls Honor Guard will be doing the rifle salute. Jennifer Sebena, 320 Other Fallen Officers Now Part of National Memorial

Visitors gather at nation's capital for National Police Week to honor those who died while on duty, including Wauwatosa police officer Jennifer Sebena.

Thousands of people began flowing Saturday into Washington, D.C., for National Police Week, filling a sacred section of the northwest portion of the capital and the national memorial honoring fallen officers. Wauwatosa police officer Jennifer Sebena, who was killed on duty on Christmas Eve 2012, is among those who will be honored. Her name freshly etched into one of the two 304-foot-long marble walls that are now part of the living National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial. The names of more than 19,000 officers who have been killed in the line of duty are etched into those walls. This year, 321 were added. The curving blue-gray marble with all those names on it was dedicated in 1991, and it has become the focal point of National Police …

Ceremony Honors Law Enforcement Officers Killed in Action

Sheriff's deputies and police officers from throughout Waukesha County take place in ceremony at Abundant Life Church in Oconomowoc as part of National Police Week.
