Stuck Skunk Saved from Stinky Situation [VIDEO]

Wildlife in Need Center is reminding people to not litter to help protect animals, and prevent another incident like this skunk found itself in.

Wildlife in Need Center animal care manager Mandy Feavel was on her way to work Tuesday morning when she saw a scared skunk with its head trapped inside a discarded Culver’s ice cream container on Highway 18. Hoping the skunk would escape safely, she enlisted the help of some brave people – wildlife rehabilitator Jaci Schmitz and volunteer Ben Johnson – to help free the animal. “Luckily the skunk had not been hit by a vehicle on Highway 18 but had gone down the bike trail,” states a letter from the Wildlife in Need Center to Waukesha Patch. “Mandy bravely approached the skunk and assessed it for any injuries. Since it appeared uninjured and in good health, she helped hold the custard cup so the skunk could pull its head free.” The skunk …

It isn't just people littering, it's the garbage trucks, trash haulers, etc. that don't have the trash contained/covered as they transport it. It blows out and all over as they drive. It amazes me that they even have anything left when they get to the landfill!   more ›
