Brookfield man, already charged with five counts of property theft, now also faces six felony counts of identity theft for claiming to represent a plumbing company when he sold stolen flushers to salvager, reports say.
A Brookfield man already charged with stealing dozens of expensive toilet valves from fast-food restaurant and institutional restrooms has also been charged with six counts of identity theft for using a plumbing company's name to fence them. Cory James Feerick, 33, of Brookfield was charged March 28 in Waukesha County with five counts of theft of property and on April 16 in Milwaukee County with six counts of felony identity theft. Each count of property theft is a Class A misdemeanor punishable by up to nine months in jail. The new identity theft charges each carry a maximum penalty of up to six years in prison. An Eagle woman investigated for stealing from Brookfield company also had $320 worth of heroin in her car, a criminal complaint alleges.
A woman is facing embezzlement charges after she allegedly stole thousands from a Brookfield company by writing checks to herself and inflating her timesheet. Tonya J. Conklin, 19, of Eagle, was charged in Waukesha County Circuit Court Wednesday with theft from a business setting, identity theft and theft. If convicted, she faces up to 10 years in prison and $30,000 in fines. A 41-year-old Waukesha man is facing charges after he allegedly broke into his ex-girlfriend’s house and stole her mother’s checks. Darrell D. Schmidt was charged in Waukesha County Circuit Court on Friday with one count of burglary, two counts of identity theft and two counts of uttering a forgery. If convicted, he faces up to 36-½ years in prison and $65,000 in fines. While working as a hostess for a now defunct Town of Brookfield restaurant, a woman stole a customer’s credit card and racked up purchases at stores in Brookfield and Waukesha, charges allege. Jennifer M. Hildebrandt, 22, of Waukesha, was charged in Waukesha County Circuit Court Friday with one count of theft and six counts of identity theft for financial gain. If convicted of all charges, she faces a maximum penalty of nearly 37 years in prison and $70,000 in fines. The Department of Revenue realized the mistake in late July and removed the information, but real estate and appraisers had already downloaded it 138 times.
Personal, confidential information from more than 110,000 people who sold homes in 2011 was hidden inside a Wisconsin Department of Revenue report used by real estate and appraisal organizations. The DOR has ask those organizations to destroy and replace the report, which was posted online for download from April 5 to July 23. The department said that while the information was in the file, it was not visible when the report was opened. However, someone who opened the specific file would have had access to the information, the DOR said. A Waukesha man is facing charges after he used a Florida woman’s Social Security number to obtain employment at a New Berlin garden center. Lorenzo Lazcano Nevarez, 39, was charged in Waukesha County Circuit Court on Thursday with one count of identity theft for financial gain. If convicted, he faces up to six years in prison and $10,000 in fines.
