'Lexi Legacy' Fundraiser Benefits Woman Injured in Accident That Killed Pet

Debbie Schultz, 54, of Waukesha, was injured when a hit-and-run driver collided with her and her service dog at North Barstow Street and West Broadway.

It’s been a month since Debbie Schultz, 54, of Waukesha, was hit by a vehicle, killing her service dog at North Barstow Street and West Broadway. Schultz still suffers from her broken foot, but she’s left without her companion, Lexi, who was a gift from her husband shortly before he was killed in a car accident. Her friends and family are throwing a “Lexi Legacy” benefit for Schultz on Sunday. The event is being held from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Montecito. The drink and food proceeds will go toward the benefit. Music will be provided by Pete Llanas and Rick the DJ. Suspect Arrested in Hit-and-Run

Carlos Ward, 29, Milwaukee, cited for accident that injured a Waukesha woman and killed her dog.

A 29-year-old Milwaukee man has been cited for the hit-and-run accident that injured a Waukesha woman and killed her dog the evening of June 8. Police pulled over a vehicle at the intersection of East Main Street and North East Avenue at 5 p.m. last night that matched the description of the vehicle involved in the hit-and-run A subsequent investigation confirmed it to be the vehicle involved in the hit and run, according to police. Carlos M. Ward was arrested and transported to the police department where he admitted his involvement in the hit and run of the woman but told police that he did not realize he had struck the dog, police said. Hit-and-Run Injures Woman, Kills Dog

SUV fled the scene following accident at Barstow and Broadway streets Friday night.

A woman and her service dog were victims of a hit-and-run accident at the intersection of Barstow and Broadway streets at 9:43 p.m. Friday, according to police. The service dog died from its injuries. The woman was treated for minor injuries, Sgt. Gregg Satula said. The woman and her dog were attempting to cross the intersection when they were struck by an SUV. The vehicle fled the scene. Although Freeman Friday Night Live was going on in the area, the incident does not at this time appear to be related to the event, according to police. Police are releasing limited information about the incident due the ongoing investigation. There were witnesses to the hit-and-run, but others who may have information are asked to call the Waukesha Police…
