Obituary: Hans J. Rothkegel

Waukesha man, 90, never regretted his move to America.

Hans J. Rothkegel, of Waukesha, died on Saturday, Jan. 26, 2013, at Seasons Hospice surrounded by his family at the age of 90 years. He was born in Bremen, Germany, on Dec. 24, 1922, the son of Joseph and Theresa (nee Arndt) Rothkegel.  Hans was a German soldier during World War II and served in France, Russia and Africa. On July 15, 1948, he married Anneliese Hunold and in 1953 they moved to the United States, a move he never regretted. Hans worked in the mercantile and accounting field and then at Wisconsin Centrifugal as an inspection supervisor until his retirement in 1983.  He was an avid craftsman who could make just about anything and he loved nature, animals and reading.  Hans especially enjoyed classical and Big Band music and …
