Pewaukee Police Chief Baumann Declares Candidacy For 98th Assembly Seat

Republicans Adam Neylon, Jeanne Tarantino, Todd Greenwald, Matt Morzy and Democrat Eric Prudent are also running for the seat.

Village of Pewaukee Chief of Police Edward Baumann declared his candidacy on Thursday for the 98th Assembly district, joining a handful of candidates vying for the seat.  “I am looking forward to continuing my life-long passion of service to others. I am not a politician, but a problem solver and coalition builder," he said in a statement. "I pledge to be ‘For the People – First and Forever.’” Current 98th Assembly Rep. Paul Farrow won the 33rd Senate District seat during a Dec. 4 special election. A primary for the 98th Assembly seat will be held Feb. 19. The election will be held April 2.  In addition to serving as Chief of Police for the Village of Pewaukee for 38 years, Baumann was a coach at Waukesha Catholic Memorial High School and …

98th Assembly Primary Is Feb. 19

Special election for 98th assembly district, which includes portions of Waukesha, Sussex and Pewaukee, will be held April 2.

Gov. Scott Walker has called for the special election in the 98th Assembly District, a seat that is vacant because State Rep. Paul Farrow was elected to the 33rd Senate District on Dec. 4. The election will be held April 2. If a primary election is necessary, it will be held Feb. 19. A news release from Gov. Scott Walker does not state when candidates can begin circulating nomination papers. The Government Accountability Board website had no information about nomination papers as of 4:35 p.m. Monday. “The dates are chosen according to statute and will coincide with guidelines for general spring elections and will therefore also reduce the cost to taxpayers,” said Governor Walker. Four Republican candidates have announced their intentions …

Updated: Candidates Emerge in 98th Assembly District Race

A half dozen people are showing interest in the special election that still has to be called by Gov. Scott Walker.

Editor's Note: This article was updated at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday with information about Jeanne Tarantino declaring her candidacy. State Rep. Paul Farrow has not yet officially won the 33rd Senate District seat, although he is the only candidate on the Dec. 4 special election ballot, but nearly a half dozen people have expressed an interest in replacing him. Election Preview: Wisconsin 98th State Assembly District

Republican incumbent Paul Farrow's opponent, Eric Prudent, is a college student and Democratic activist.

The candidates in the 98th State Assembly District have at least one thing in common.   Republican incumbent Paul Farrow and his opponent Democrat Eric Prudent both believe that education is the fundamental engine that drives economic growth in the state.  Farrow said that he would like to create a streamlined process in which students can obtain certification and associate degrees at state technical colleges in order to stem the shortage of skilled workers in the future.  Those students would be able to "get their associates degree without having to worry about being in school five or four nights a week," he said. "It (would) really open up the opportunities in talking with the technical colleges and how they can modify their classes to …
