Language Barrier May Cause Trial for Hit-and-Run to Start Over

The defense attorney for Edgar Montano, accused of killing a Waukesha woman and an unborn child in a 2012 car crash ,says his client doesn't understand what is going on.

A trial of a man charged with homicide by intoxicated use of a vehicle may have to start all over due to language barriers, reported Today's TMJ4. Edgar Montano is accused of killing a 48-year-old Waukesha mother and another woman’s unborn child in a car crash last summer. The Waukesha woman, Jean Feagles, was struck while pushing her car along Highway 164/59.  A passenger in Montano’s car suffered a miscarriage after the accident, leading to the second homicide charge. Montano's defense attorney says his client, who speaks English and Spanish, needs help understanding what is going on in the trial, reported TMJ4. Defense Attorney in Homicide Asks to be Removed from Case

Edgar Montano faces three homicide counts in the July 2012 death of a Waukesha woman and also an unborn child. His attorney asked to be removed from the case Monday, six weeks before trial.

The attorney for a Waukesha man charged with homicide by intoxicated use of vehicle asked to be removed from the case during a hearing Monday in Waukesha County Circuit Court. Edgar Montano is also charged with homicide by intoxicated use of vehicle of an unborn child and three other felonies in connection with the July 21, 2012 death of 48-year-old Jean Feagles. The Waukesha woman was struck while pushing her car along Highway 164/59.  A passenger in Montano’s car suffered a miscarriage after the accident, leading to the second homicide charge. Man Pleads Not Guilty to Drunken Driving Crash, Killing Waukesha Mother

Edgar Montano is accused of also causing the car crash that killed his friend's unborn child.

A 28-year-old Waukesha man who is accused of killing a 48-year-old Waukesha mother and another woman’s unborn child in a car crash July 21 pleaded not guilty to several drunk-driving related homicide charges Thursday morning. Edgar Montano is accused of killing Jean Feagles, whose vehicle had run out of gas, during the hit-and-run crash that followed a night of drinking in Milwaukee, according to a criminal complaint. A passenger in his car had a miscarriage following the accident, according to court records. Montano remains jailed in lieu of $250,000. Man Faces OWI Homicide Charges in Death of Woman, Unborn Baby

An updated criminal complaint filed against Edgar Montano in the death of 48-year-old Jean Feagles alleges that Montano was driving drunk in the hit-and-run car accident on July 21.

The 28-year-old Waukesha man accused of killing 48-year-old Jean Feagles of Waukesha during an alleged drunken driving hit-and-run crash now faces additional charges after a passenger in his car had a miscarriage following the accident, according to court records. Edgar Montano remains jailed in lieu of $250,000. His preliminary hearing was delayed until Sept. 6 after District Attorney Brad Schimel amended a criminal complaint to include two additional felony charges against Montano. Montano previously was not charged with operating while intoxicated because police did not have blood evidence immediately after the crash. $250K Bail Set for Man Accused of Killing Woman in Car Crash

The suspect was drinking tequila before the crash that killed Jean Feagles, 47, of Waukesha, and injured her 16-year-old daughter Niekol Pucine, according to the criminal complaint.

A night out at a Milwaukee club drinking tequila and the fatal hit-and-run car crash that followed is leading to serious allegations against Edgar Montano, 28, of Waukesha, according to a criminal complaint filed Monday in Waukesha County Circuit Court. Montano is accused of killing 48-year-old Jean Feagles while she was pushing her car that after it ran out of gas early Saturday. Her teenage daughter, Niekol Pucine, was injured in the crash. She had a sprained ankle and appeared in court on crutches, and became very emotional in court when she saw Montano.
