Dirt Strippers Appears Closed, Owes Thousands in Taxes

Waukesha car wash is behind nearly $53,000 in back taxes but some customers lost money after purchasing tickets online.

It might not seem like much, but Waukesha resident Dan Weber is still out about $50. About a year ago, Weber purchased discount coupons online for Dirt Stripper Touchless Car Wash. He used about half of the coupons and decided to use them again during a recent warm day to rinse the salt off his car. “I went in there,” Weber said. “It was just empty.” Weber pulled up to the 24-hour car wash at 1649 Arcadian Ave. and tried to use the coupons at one of the stations. The automated system said it was out-of-order. That’s when Weber realized the neon sign that would typically light up to say “Open” was turned off. “It is not the end of the world but it is kind of a shame,” Weber said. Weber tried to contact the car wash to no success. He’s stuck…

The artist selection begins Tuesday, Gaffey said, and 25 artists have submitted applications to work on the guitars. In addition to the 10-feet-tall guitars, 15 smaller guitars will be placed throughout the city. Gibson is donating three of the large guitars and all of the 15 guitars…

Strong Showing as Waukesha Aldermen Discuss Street Closures for Events

Some fear that a proposed ordinance that is being circulated could put an end to popular weekly summer music events.

A spirited debate about potential changes to the city’s street closures ordinance – changes that some fear will spell the end for a popular weekly music event in downtown Waukesha – broke out Monday night but no action was taken by the Ordinance & License Committee as Mayor Jeff Scrima has a work group to address some of the issues that are related to street closures.
