Waukesha businessowners opening fifth gelato restaurant at Brookfield Square Mall in May.
The owners of Divino Gelato Café, Lori and Joe Lester, are looking forward to opening their fifth café this May. Divino Gelato Café already has operations in Waukesha and Racine – as well as Florida – and it will soon expand to a kiosk at Brookfield Square Mall near the food court. “I have had my eyes open at Brookfield Square for a number of years now,” Lori Lester said. “Gelato is a great product for walking. We need the walk by traffic.” While Divino Gelato Café is a popular destination in downtown Waukesha, Lester feels Brookfield Square is the perfect location to attract customers in the winter or on rainy days. A 47-year-old Waukesha woman is charged with stealing money from a taxicab driver's wallet.
A 47-year-old Waukesha woman, who police say stole $250 from a taxi cab driver, told authorities she thought the money was her change, according to a criminal complaint. Michelle A. Young was charged in Waukesha County Circuit Court on Wednesday with one count of theft. If convicted, she faces up to nine months in prison and $10,000 in fines. On Aug. 10, Young and a friend took a taxi from Brookfield Square mall to Hannon’s Bar. Young sat in the front passenger seat and after paying and getting change back for the ride, she got out of the cab, the criminal complaint states. More than four dozen gold and silver coins and an iPad were stolen when a Waukesha house was burglarized.
A 23-year-old Waukesha man is facing charges alleging he burglarized an area home and sold some of the stolen items to another man in the parking lot of Brookfield Square Mall. Gary J. Render was charged in Waukesha County Circuit Court on Wednesday with one count of burglary and one count of felony bail jumping. If convicted, he faces up to 18 ½ years in prison and $35,000 in fines. According to the criminal complaint: On July 16, Waukesha police were called to the 300 block of Cambridge Avenue after a couple came home and found someone had broken into the home and stolen various items, including an iPad, 65 gold and silver coins, three rings and 29 blank checks. A Milwaukee man is facing multiple charges after he sold undercover investigators crack, marijuana and drywall disguised as crack on three different occasions in Waukesha and Brookfield, according to a criminal complaint. William Thanadabouth, 24, was charged in Waukesha County Circuit Court Thursday with one count of manufacture and delivery of cocaine, one count of falsely present a non-controlled substance, two counts of maintaining a drug trafficking place, one count of possession of drug paraphernalia, and one count of manufacture and delivery of THC, the active ingredient in marijuana.
