Obituary: Marjorie Krohn Sutton

Waukesha woman, 89, passed away Friday at AngelsGrace Hospice.

Marjorie Krohn Sutton, of Waukesha, was reunited with her loving husband on Friday, May 18, 2013 at AngelsGrace Hospice at the age of 89 years.  She was born in Wisconsin Rapids, WI on July 26, 1923 the daughter of John A. and Amalia (nee Leader) Krohn. On September 11, 1948 she married Quintin H. Sutton; he preceded her in death on June 7, 2012.  Marjorie was a member of the Waukesha Service Club and an active member of Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church for many years.  She was an avid reader, enjoyed playing bridge and loved to bird watch. For over 20 years, Marjorie and Quintin would spend the winters in Port Charlotte, FL. She will be sadly missed by her daughter Patricia (Matthew) Sutton-Knight of Topsfield, MA and her two …

Waukesha man dies at age 85 on Saturday.

Ramon W. “Ray” Orlopp, lifelong resident of Waukesha, made his journey to heaven, on Saturday, May 18, 2013, at the age of 85 years. He was born in Waukesha on April 7, 1928, son of Lester and Norma Orlopp. Ray married Beverly Wagner on June 9, 1951, together they raised four children while enjoying 62 years of marriage.  He began his life’s career in the grocery business at the age of 15 and retired at 79, having worked 25 years of that time at Grasch Foods. Ray was a longtime member of St. John Neumann Catholic Church, Waukesha. He was first and foremost a devoted family man. Ray enjoyed playing golf, reading newspapers, and giving his grandkids a hard time. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean …

Dorothy M. Strong, of Waukesha, peacefully passed away on Friday, May 17, 2013 at Seasons Hospice surrounded by her loving family at the age of 91 years. She was born in Kenosha on May 18, 1921 the daughter of Edward and Evelyn (nee Venne) Boyer.  On March 30, 1940 she married John W. Strong; he preceded her in death in 1984.  Dorothy lived her 91 years of life to the fullest and will be dearly missed by her family and friends.  She is lovingly survived by her children, Jack Strong (Kristy Knudsen) of Naples, FL, Kathleen (Ron) Larson of Waukesha and Patrick Strong of Mequon and her grandchildren, Emily Knudsen-Strong, Gregory Larson, Shane Larson, Christopher Larson and Katherine Wortman.  She is further survived by her dear sister-in-law…

Obituary: John B. “Jack” Mathie

Waukesha man died Thursday at age 79.

John B. “Jack” Mathie, of Waukesha, died Thursday, May 16, 2013 at Waukesha Memorial Hospital at the age of 79. He was born on May 12, 1934 in Waukesha, the son of Robert and Hilda (nee Bendig).  He was a 1952 graduate of Waukesha High School.  He had worked at Ladwig as a draftsman and had been Vice President at H & K, retiring in 1997.  On December 26, 1973 he married Kay (nee Nelsen) Mathie, she preceded him in death on May 20, 2007.  Jack was a longtime member of First Congregational UCC and was very involved with the church as a board member, moderator and always helped with The Historic Pancake Supper. Obituary: Dorothy I. Falk

Funeral services for Waupun woman will be held in Waukesha.

Dorothy I. Falk, of Waupun, passed away at Marvin’s Manor Assisted living after a short illness. She was born in North Freedom, Wisconsin, on May 5, 1926, daughter of Chauncey and Irene Hitchcock. In August of 1952, Dorothy married Roy Falk. She spent her adult life as a Waukesha county farm wife and mother. Dorothy took great pride in her work. She enjoyed gardening, reading and needle point. Joan Lou O’Rear of New Berlin passed away at the age of 91 years on Wednesday, May 15, 2013, at Waukesha Memorial Hospital surrounded by her family. She was born in Indianapolis, Indiana on November 27, 1921 the daughter of Chester Robert and Lou Etta (Davis) Ferguson. Joan attended the Neighborhood Playhouse in New York City, N.Y. studying Acting and Theater Arts where some of her classmates were Efrem Zimbalist Jr., Gregory Peck, Tony Randall and Eli Wallach. She was united in marriage to Joseph Lucas O’Rear on May 3, 1942 at the Washington Square Methodist Church in Greenwich Village. Obituary: Sue Lynn Land-Meier

Waukesha woman, 63, died Sunday at Seasons Hospice.

Sue Lynn Land-Meier, life-long resident of Waukesha, died on Sunday, May 12, 2013 at Seasons Hospice at the age of 63 years. Sue was born on March 30, 1950, the daughter of Frank and Lorraine Bellin. On September 22, 1990, she married Gary Meier.  Sue was a faithful member of the RiverGlen Christian Church of Waukesha. She enjoyed knitting, baking, music and musicals. Sue was also a devout Red Hatter and was part of the “Wild but Wonderful” chapter. Sue’s greatest joy, however, was spending time with her family and friends. Retired Franklin Fire Chief Passes Away at Age 83

Ralph Wichser Jr., of Waukesha, died Saturday at age 83. He previously served as a firefighter in West Allis and Brookfield before becoming the fire chief in Franklin.

Ralph “Babe” Wichser, Jr., of Waukesha, died Saturday, May 11, 2013, at Waukesha Memorial Hospital at the age of 83. He was born on June 26, 1929, in Milwaukee, the son of Ralph and Lucille Wichser.  He was a 1947 graduate of West Allis Central High School, where he excelled in athletics.  He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy, as a submariner, from 1948 until 1951.  He was a member of the U.S. Navy Boxing Team, a member of the USS Chivo Reunion Group and was very supportive of the Navy. On July 7, 1951, he married the former Martha Macuk at Holy Assumption in West Allis.  For 37 years he had been a firefighter.  He worked for the City of West Allis, City of Brookfield and was the Fire Chief for the City of Franklin, retiring in …

'She Just Had a Passion To Give Back'

Jennifer Podhora, 28, of Waukesha, had a tremendous impact on the Elmbrook middle school students she worked with before she passed away from cancer.

Last September, the students in Jennifer Podhora’s classes were thrilled their teacher was back at Wisconsin Hills Middle School. She had started at the Brookfield middle school in September 2011 but her year of teaching was cut short because she needed cancer treatment. She stepped away from the school in spring 2012, focused on her health and was told she was cancer free last summer. “Kids are amazing in that they will always rally around someone in need,” said Principal Robyn Martino. “I think they felt like they were truly instrumental in making her smile. … She definitely made a difference in the kids’ lives.” The victory was short lived. Waukesha woman, 88, passed away Saturday.

Margaret H. Mussell, of Waukesha, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 11, 2013, at Seasons Hospice and Palliative Care surrounded by her loving family at the age of 88 years. Margaret was born the second of nine children to George and Erna (Trester) Stern on March 30, 1925 in Winona, MN. She was united in marriage to George H. Mussell on November 13, 1943, in Waukesha. The couple lived in Whitewater, Hartland and then returned to Waukesha. While living in Hartland, Margaret along with her husband, George, owned and operated the Phillips 66 and Shell gas stations and later owned and operated Mussell’s Sales and Service located in Stone Bank.
