I, too, spent my formative years in a frigid, high-walled Siberian orphanage without running waterRead More or electricity. Reading Allie's story, I know all too well the hunger pangs of watching the Cossacks eat borsch by the fireplace in their leopardskin coats, as my siblings and I were cast outside to clean pots and pans in the frozen Tura river, barefoot and shivering. My only salvation was the kindly Trans-Siberian Railway conductor, who allowed me free travel to Vladivostock, and eventually, the freedom of Waukesha. Pasib, Mr. Yeltsin, pasib!

Happy hands dancing has brought such joy to Main Street, the likes of which hasn't been seen sinceRead More the days of the Five Points, with its charming gazebo and friendly denizens. I am brought to tears of joy by the expressions of the young man in the pink t shirt.

By writing this article in the way it is presented it sounds like suspensions are a bad thing. WhatRead More a suspension says to me is a school was made aware of a situation and handled it to avoid a repeat situation. It's becuase of articles like this that schools become scared to act on behavioral situations and push problems under the rug so they don't look bad statsitically.

A lot of the pranksters are athletes. There is an athletic code. Have the coaches - especiallyRead More football and baseball - lay down the law. If the code is violated there is a penalty regardless of where the infraction occurs. There is leverage and the schools should use it. And a parents "it's 10PM, do you know where your children are?

Mr LaBoard has done a great job in a short time as Principal at West and has been signed on as theRead More long term leader. He is not lying but basically is saying that his hands are somewhat tied. If it happens off campus, is not affiliated with a school sponsored trip or activity and is not an athletic or other school activity student code violation there is really nothing he or the school can do. Most of these pranks are the same old harmless ones but it is few stupid kids that get carried away and cause property damage that ruins it for everyone.

No blue blooded Catholic could resist a Catholic Memorial versus Divine Savior no holds barred rugbyRead More scrum to the death. How appropriate that our elitist parochial schools promote such bone crushing violence as sport to our impressionable young girls, who, not yet having experienced menarche, must at all costs, win the powder puff World championships, at all costs.
