We went to the Clark a couple of years ago and received great service. Our car was parked for us, the room was setup with mood lighting and music. Candles were lit around the room, it was fantastic. (We were celebrating our wedding anniversary)
That is completely different than how the business is run today. We had to get buzzed in because they do not have staff by the door. You are asked to park your car in a parking structure 2-3 blocks away and walk back. The room was nice, but we found receipts and the trash had things in it from the previous people. (assuming they had other occupants) Again, the rooms are nice and big. The bathroom had a very nice shower with multiple heads.
This hotel claims to be a 5 star destination, and they charge you accordingly, but with the service we had this last time I would say it is not even close to being on par with other hotels like the Pfister or the Iron Horse. It is unfortunate, I really liked this hotel, but now it is not worth the money they are charging.
