So after much trepidation Jen and I decide to give Key Westconsin another chance.
It's a downtown restaurant in Waukesha that brags about their great food and service.
Our first experience there was a 45 minute wait and once seated sat for half an hour with a starving toddler completely ignored. Mind you our table was right next to the door where all the hostess stood and watched us just sit there with no server. We walked out.
Tonight we went back. This time we were seated quickly, and placed our order.
After sitting for a while "a" server, not our server dropped off only Jen and my dinner, not my 2 year old toddlers meal. We sat for five minutes attempting to flag down our waiter while my starving little boy began devouring my dinner. When the server did stop I asked about my boys dinner he responded weird as he plated it. Fifteen minutes later my boy was served Macaroni and cheese in a bow that burned him as it was beyond crazy hot. Also the server at that time tells us we were given someone else's dinners, which just happened to be exactly what we ordered. Needless to say, we were still charged for my boys meal even though he didn't eat it as it was too late and way too hot. Yet again Key Westconsin goes on the do not go to list...

I have been to Key Westconsin 3 times now and have never had a bad dish. Best Crab Cakes and Key Lime pie!!
3/26/11 2 COUPLES W/ 4 DIFFERENT MEALS - WERE ALL WONDERFUL!!! WE'LL BE BACK FOR SURE.
I'm sorry to give a bad review to a new business, but my husband and I ate here about a month ago on a Friday night. The pro's were we were seated quickly and had a nice waitress. I had the fish fry which came out hot and was good.
The con's were the baked fish my husband ordered came out still a bit on the frozen side. He felt bad about sending it back but told the waitress about it and she abruptly took it back. She came back a few minutes later and the fish was still cold. She took the plate and came back a third time, and it was finally warm.
The waitress and manager apologized and offered us a free dessert. My husband had the key lime pie, which he said was quite good, and I had the creme brulee which was excellent!
Although it was close to when they first opened, and we understand they need to work out some kinks, I'm not sure we'd ever return. If we did, it would definitely be for dessert.
We were a party of six for this first visit at Key Westconsin. It was a Friday night; no trouble getting seated immediately. Our waiter was very personable and the food was great. Three of us had the fishfry and one in our party thought the quantity of fish was lacking. Our waiter did have some issues with timing of food delivery ( salads after entree) and inconsistent condiment delivery to table. We took into consideration the newness of the restaurant and staff and would certainly go back again.
Interesting menu, great service & involved ownership in DT progress. We have taken numerous friends there and they have become repeat customers.
