Waukesha County Backpack Coalition Plans Fill the Bus

Donations of new backpacks and school supplies for students in need will be taken June 30.

The Waukesha County Backpack Coalition needs help as it prepares to donate backpacks filed with school supplies to students throughout Waukesha County.

The coalition’s Fill the Bus effort is occurring from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, July 30, at locations throughout the county. Donations of new backpacks and school supplies for those in need will be collected during the event.

  • Walmart in Pewaukee
  • Sam’s Club in Waukesha
  • Walgreens in Hartland

The Klements Famous Racing Sausages will be at the Wal-Mart in Pewaukee and Sam’s Club in Waukesha from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

In 2010, more than 1,600 backpacks filled with school supplies were distributed to Waukesha County students in need with an increase expected this year.

“Any support you could provide this program will make a significant impact in the lives of hundreds of families in the community,” said Colleen Martin, the founding member of Waukesha County Backpack Coalition, in the news release. “It is a joy to see the faces of the children light up when they receive their brand new backpack.”
