Volunteer Opportunities: Trail Clean Up; Art Assistant; Cooking

If you are looking for ways to help the community, you can help out these organizations working with the United Way in Waukesha County.

Bike Trail Clean Up, Adaptive Community Approach Program, Inc. (ACAP)
Get outside and enjoy the weather while helping the environment! During the spring, summer or fall, you can assist individuals with disabilities to clean up the Waukesha Bike Trail. Volunteer to help others volunteer! You are needed for a few hours between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Monday through Friday, scheduling is flexible. Volunteers must be a minimum of 14 years old. ACAP is located in Waukesha.

Building Maintenance, American Red Cross in Southeastern Wisconsin
Do you like working with your hands and fixing things? Come and volunteer with the American Red Cross by helping keep our building operational and looking good. Light "handyman" activities as needed. Provide routine maintenance for the building such as changing light bulbs, cleaning interior/exterior windows, light painting, doing simple repairs and simple yard work and garden clean up. Volunteers must be 18+ and have the ability and willingness to work well with the general public, have skills in the maintenance of a building and pay attention to detailAmerican Red Cross is located in Pewaukee.

Art Activity Assistant, Donna Lexa Community Art Center, Inc.
Reliable and friendly individuals are needed to assist art teachers in classes for adults with physical and developmental disabilities. Duties include helping one-on-one with art projects like painting, clay work, drawing, stitching, and beading...the creativity never ends here! Other tasks include helping the teacher prepare materials before class and clean up after. Classes are two hours long and meet Monday through Saturday mornings, afternoons, and evenings. Donna Lexa is located in Waukesha.

Cooking or Meal Preparation, Richard’s Place, Inc.
Do you love to cook? If you do, residents with HIV/AIDS at Richard’s Place long to taste your creations! Get together with friends, family, or coworkers and prepare a meal at this agency. Use your favorite recipes to spice up the lives of these residents! Groups wishing to use the kitchen at the house can select the day and time that works best for them. Richard’s Place is located in Waukesha.
