Looking to Volunteer? Here Are Some Area Opportunities

The United Way of Waukesha County's Volunteer Center makes it easy to find ways to help out the community.

Therapeutic Riding Class Volunteer: LifeStriders Therapeutic Riding Center
Side-walkers and leaders assist in therapeutic riding classes as well as horse care. We need interested people willing to commit to an ongoing volunteer position for six to eight weeks. Interested volunteers will be provided training. Must be at least 13 years old. Must be able to walk for 45-minute sessions and not be afraid of horses. Horse experience preferred but not required. Weekday, evening and weekend hours are available.

5K Race Day Volunteers: SHARE of South East Wisconsin
On May 13 from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m., volunteers are needed for the following assignments: parking lot attendants, race route volunteers, water stop volunteers, finish line volunteers, food tent volunteers following the race. The race will take place at Hoyt Park in Wauwatosa.

Tutoring Homeless Children: Hebron House Of Hospitality
These opportunities fill up fast, so if you are interested inquire today. The Hebron House and Siena House are looking for tutors after school during the school year. Reliable transportation and ability to understand child development and education is needed.

Mediator:  Mediation and Restorative Justice Center
If you would like to make a positive contribution to our community and learn conflict resolution skills, volunteers are needed to mediate disputes in Waukesha County. Volunteers work on a variety of cases, including small/large claims, neighborhood, family, juvenile, business, landlord/tenant & workplace. Dates and times depend on the caseload. Volunteers must be a minimum of 18 years old and consent to a background check. Extensive training is required and provided.
