Large Gobblers Help Feed Families This Thanksgiving
Turkey and all the traditional fixings being given out to approximately 1,500 families at the Food Pantry of Waukesha County.
Thes always a hub of activity, but Thanksgiving week is a busy one as approximately 1,500 families will receive a turkey and all the fixings to go with it this holiday season.
Volunteer were busy stocking shelves, sorting potatoes, assisting with donations and checking expiration dates as people would bring bags after bag of food filled with stuffing, canned goods and more.
As of Tuesday morning, 700 turkeys and Thanksgiving dinners were given out with more dinners going out Tuesday afternoon and today. More turkeys were coming in Tuesday morning as community members were helping those who can’t afford the big Thanksgiving meal to still celebrate in the traditional style.

“The donations are coming in very nicely,” said Judy Cesarec, volunteer coordinator at the food pantry.
This year, different sizes of turkeys were given to the food pantry, according to Cesarec.

“The larger families were fortunate that we have turkeys large enough,” she said.
