Power Outage: A personal account

On Monday night, I left work and found that I had no power. Since I knew that the storm had taken other people's power, I was not concerned and used a lazar pointer to play with my cat. My cat didn't even respond.

The next morning, I laid around for a few hours before getting up. What can a person do without electric any ways? I wiped myself off and got dressed. I was glad that I didn't have to work that day since I wouldn't be clean enough to be in public. Breakfast? I had a Boost-like drink in my cereal. I went for a walk at the park and saw a lot of other people in the park. I heard a mom telling her child that he could stand to put away his electronics away for a while. I had to chuckle at that one since I was having a similar problem. I couldn't stand not knowing how long food can stay edible when the refrigerator isn't working or what was going on with the power outage. No TV news. No internet to look things up on. My cell phone didn't seem to work. I imagined myself sticking my head out and yelling if I needed emergency services for any reason.

When the power came back on, I was in the  middle of writing about the power outage. I was so happy to be able to cook a pork chop that had thawed out in my freezer. I had me a warm dinner and went to grocery shopping afterwards. It cost me around 60 dollars to replace the food that I threw away.  So I am now broke until I get another paycheck.
