Obamacare: Good or Bad?

When this law passed, I thought it would help me to have better access to medical care. Now, I feel like I could be a poster child for both the positive and the negative sides of this law. How can that be you ask?
On the positive side, I have a lower deductible and lower premiums than last year.  I am also part of a wellness plan for the first time in my life. My workplace's break room has posters about people who managed to lose weight and get healthier through a wellness program. I had wanted to see if it would help with me. So, I now want to make 2014 my year to get healthier and lose weight.
On the negative side, I am struggling to pay the premiums. Why? I can hear someone saying, "but it is much lower than it was last year. Besides the government is helping to pay your premiums out of my tax money." True. The call center lady and I estimated my 2014 to 16,000.  I complained that it was too high and couldn't understand why it was so high. Now, I know that it is because of the gap between Medicaid, which we call BadgerCare in this state, and the federal assistance through Obamacare. As if that isn't hard enough, my income has dropped dramatically. Why? Obamacare and how my employer responded to the new law is the answer. Along with many other businesses, my employer has cut my hours in order to keep me below thirty hours a week. Obamacare defined full-time as thirty hours or more while Wisconsin has previously defined full-time as forty hours or me. I went from working thirty to thirty-five hours a week to working twenty-seven to twenty-nine hours.
Do I think this law is good or bad for me and for my country? I don't know. It helps me get better health insurance but encourages my employer and other businesses to avoid paying a fine by cutting hours. We did hire a new person in order to make it easier to keep each person's hours below thirty. I don't think we would have hired her if it wasn't for the law and my employer's response to that law. There have also been stories predicting that some employees will cut hours in order to keep the assistance that they are receiving. While, I suspect others will feel more free to look for a different job or start a new business.
