Make a Difference in Waukesha; Wisconsin Ranked High for Volunteerism

This blog includes Volunteer statistics for Milwaukee and Waukesha with encouragement to volunteer for Make a Difference day.

A post on my facebook account referred me to a very interesting site.  According to this study, Wisconsin ranks eighth in volunteering in comparison to all fifty states and Washington, D.C., while Milwaukee rated eighth within fifty-one large cities.

There is a meal program in downtown Waukesha at the Hope Center, which I have had the privilege of helping out at once and a while.  One year, we served the meal on Valentine's day.  So, a lady at my church and I bought some flowers to hand out to the diners that day.  It was great fun to surprise the people with a carnation while they ate the meal.  I saw some looks of gratitude as I sneaked peaks at my pastor who was asked to hand out the flowers.  Even though this was years ago, I still remember it.

Tomorrow (October 22) is Make a Difference day.  The above statistics show that many of us are already making a difference on a regular basis.  If you haven't volunteered before, please look around for someone to help.  It can be buying food for the food pantry, donating items to Hebron House and many other ideas.  You may be able to create some great memories for you and your family.  Please share your experiences of volunteering for Make a Difference day in the comments below.
