Ten Waukesha Swimmers Competing in State Meet

After placing high in a number of events, ten swimmers from area Waukesha schools will be competing this weekend at the state meet.

Ten Waukesha swimmers qualified to compete this weekend at the WIAA Division 1 State Meet in Madison after placing high in a number of events at sectional. 

Over the weekend the co-op Waukesha North/Kettle Moraine placed second at sectional with a score of 313. Trailing right behind in third place was Waukesha South/Catholic Memorial with a score of 295. Waukesha West/Mukwonago placed seventh with a score of 173.

Waukesha South/CatholicMemorial senior Alex Swain will be competing in the 50 yard freestyle and 100 yard freestyle.

"Senior Nick Menninga of Madison Memorial is the top returning finisher in the 50 freestyle ... however, senior Alex Swain of Waukesha South/Catholic Memorial has the fastest time in the 100 freestyle entering the meet at 46.95. Swain could also challenge Menninga in the 50 free after placing sixth last year," the WIAA wrote in a press release about the meet. 

Other swimmers competing in state from the Waukesha area include juniors Kyle Gerum and Alec Carlson and sophomore Jonathan Jaworski from Waukesha South/Catholic Memorial; juniors Greg Geanon and Simon Hense, sophomores Nolan Fahey and Keenan Acken, and senior Keenan Acken from Waukesha North/Kettle Moraine; and senior David Wright and sophomore Chris Miszewski from Waukesha West/Mukwonago.
