Workout Honors Fallen Waukesha Soldier

Friends and family of 1st Lt. Daren Hidalgo will pay tribute to soldier during fundraiser for his memorial fund.

Registration has been closed, but friends and family of 1st Lt. Daren Hidalgo are learning a new workout that is dedicated in his honor.

Hidalgo, of Waukesha, shortly before his 25th birthday. He graduated from West Point in 2009 and was a wrestler at Kettle Moraine High School before transferring when his family moved Pennsylvania.

CrossFit Lake Country is holding a special workout event to pay tribute to Hidalgo at 8 a.m. Saturday at its facility in Hartland. Hidalgo’s older brothers and fellow veterans, Jared and Miles Hidalgo, designed the workout as a fundraiser for their brother’s memorial fund.

“Join us for a great workout and a great cause,” the CrossFit Lake Country’s website states. “Help us remember Daren by participating in a challenging, fun workout.”

A Soldier Marathon is also being held Saturday in Columbus, GA.
