graduate Gwen Jorgensen placed 38th in the triathlon in London 2012 Olympics Saturday morning – a flat tire lead to the disappointing outcome.
"You don't get to come to the Olympics every year," Jorgensen told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. "It's a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and I just wanted to finish and know that I gave it my all. I just wanted to put it all out there."
The 26-year-old accountant at Ernst & Young in Milwaukee was competing in the Olympics this year for the first time. Her time of two hours, six minutes and 34 seconds was not enough to fight against Nicola Spirig, the athlete from Switzerland who took the gold.
“Not my day yesterday,” Jorgensen wrote on her Twitter account. Wish I could do it over but can't. Instead using that internal motivation going forward. Thankful for the opportunity.”
