Paul Hamm Calls it Quits

Waukesha native brings an end to his gymnastics career with announcement that he does not plan on competing in London this summer.

Months before the Summer 2012 Olympics in London begin, Waukesha native Paul Hamm has retired.

Hamm won the all-around gymnastics competition in the 2004 Olympics and won a silver medal in the team competition and a silver in the parallel bars. 

An Associated Press article appearing on ESPN cites Hamm’s body and previous shoulder injury as a reason for the 2004 Olympian and graduate for calling it quits.

While Hamm might not be competing in London, he could be coming home to Wisconsin. An article appearing in USA Today states that Hamm plans to begin an MBA program at Marquette University this fall.
