The could be ending the possibility of arbitration with the teacher's union as the board is set to vote the 2009-11 teaching contracts at 5:45 p.m. Tuesday at the school district's offices.

The contract dispute has been a battle between the district and the union. Because the past contracts had a sunset clause, teachers who retire now would do so without health insurance.

Kathy Stonitsch, president of the Education Association of Waukesha, said during the January school board meeting that 40 teachers were unable to retire with post-employment benefits before this school year and the number of teachers looking to retire will be up to 80 by the end of this school year.

An updated agenda states the entire meeting will be held in open session and will be “for consideration and possible action on the approval of the 2009-2011 teacher master agreement.”
