Waukesha Resident Receives Scholarship to Mount Mary College

Sarah Mahn, daughter of Gerald and Nancy Mahn, Waukesha, has been awarded the Trustee Tuition Award and the Dean's Scholarship to Mount Mary College for the 2013-2014 school year.

The Dean's Scholarship is a renewable award, presented to a talented student who has exhibited exceptional academic achievements and leadership qualities. The Dean's Scholarship continues to build on the College's reputation of quality education by supporting deserving students who strive toward excellence in themselves.

Sarah, a 2013 graduate of Waukesha Christian Academy, will be a freshman at Mount Mary this fall with plans to major in dietetics.

"We're delighted Sarah has selected Mount Mary College to pursue her dream of earning a degree," said Eileen Schwalbach, PhD., president of Mount Mary College. "We awarded Sarah a Dean's Scholarship based on her application, achievements, and outstanding potential. Sarah is an exceptional woman who is focused on her education, has strong leadership skills and believes in Mount Mary's mission of social justice."

Mount Mary College, founded in 1913 by the School Sisters of Notre Dame, was Wisconsin's first four-year, degree-granting Catholic college for women. Located on an 80-acre campus in Milwaukee, the College offers more than 30 undergraduate majors for women and eight graduate programs for women and men. Mount Mary also emphasizes study abroad, service learning, and social justice initiatives. Its nearly 1900 students enjoy small class sizes (average 15) and over 90 percent of full-time students receive financial aid or scholarships. Through classroom instruction and community service, Mount Mary develops women to be leaders in their professions and their communities, serving as role models to inspire achievement in others.
