UW-Waukesha Tuition to Increase by $235 Annually

Board of Regents ends tuition freeze after four years.

The annual tuition at University of Wisconsin-Waukesha is increasing by $235 this year for Wisconsin residents. The annual cost to attend the two-year college will be $4,503 beginning this fall, according to a news release.

The UW System Board of Regents voted Thursday to increase tuition by 5.5 percent at all campuses, the release states. UW-Waukesha’s tuition was frozen the last four years, the release states, while tuition increased 5.5 percent each year at the four-year universities.

Harry Muir, , said in a news release that UW-Waukesha has the lowest tuition in the UW System.

β€œI want to emphasize that we are also trimming every possible expense to lessen the impact on students of the $250 million budget cut without affecting the quality of education,” Muir said in the release.

The UW System is estimating the tuition increases will make up part of the $250 million reduction in state aid that is projected for the next two school years. The increase is expected to increase UW System revenues by $37.5 million during the 2011-12 school year, according to the news release.
