Hot air balloon ride adds to end-of-school excitement at St. Mary's Campus.

Yes, that really was a hot air balloon flying in Waukesha today.

Ken Walter, owner of  and parent of two children in elementary school at , brought the balloon to school to as part of an end-of-the school year “Fun Day”.

Children enjoyed learning about hot air balloons and watched in awe as the balloon rose in the air to give the school principal and pastor a scenic ride.

In addition to celebrating the end of the school year, the balloon ride was a fitting send-off for St. Mary Campus Principal Lisa Kovaleski, who recently earned a promotion and is leaving St. Mary’s to become the head of the Waukesha Catholic School System, Walter said.

Conditions were good for the daytime balloon ride, with sunny blue skies and little wind, as the trio flew from Waukesha to New Berlin.
