Pride Alliance Plans Inclusive Prom at UW-Waukesha
Dance will be held from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday and is open to all high school seniors.
A University of Wisconsin-Waukesha group that supports gay, lesbian and transgender students will host a prom this week.
"We want it to be a safe space, a place anyone can come and be themselves, and have a good time,” said Samantha Harvey, public relations officer of the Pride Alliance.
The Pride Alliance is raising awareness about social challenges, including harassment and suicide, that often plague homosexuals. And their mission, according to their promotional material, states that “Our group wants to not only send the message that it gets better, but to actually make things better.”
