South, North Students Want Rivalry Homecoming Game Aired on Thursday Night Lights

A Waukesha South junior has launched a massive social media campaign that is gaining support from the two underdogs in the Classic 8 Conference.

It’s no secret that Waukesha North and Waukesha South’s football teams are the underdogs in the Classic 8 Conference.

The two teams have struggled each year – last year South won two games and North brought in one win. When they had their game at South, it was a close game with South bringing in the win at the end.

Other opponents are top playoff contenders – Arrowhead and Catholic Memorial high schools won the state championship game in 2012.

The two teams face each other next fall for South’s homecoming game. And that’s why South junior Isaiah Pitchford’s launched a massive social media push to get MY24 Thursday Night Lights to film the homecoming showdown.

“Last season, it was a really close game and it is a crosstown rivalry,” Pitchford said Friday. “We are trying to get this on TV because we both know that although we struggle because of our conference, we have a lot of talent and we think it would be great for the community.”

So far, he’s received the support of his teammates, Waukesha South staff and students and even Waukesha North students.

My24Milwaukee is making its decision this week– so Pitchford is asking for the community’s help by posting on the My24Milwaukee Facebook page and on the Facebook page he started to gain support for the game.

As for goals for next season?

“I am hoping we can make the playoffs with four conference wins,” Pitchford said. “If not, two or three wins and get our non-conference wins as well.”
