Beloved Waukesha Teacher Dies While Running

Jake Kelly, a seventh-grade teacher at Waukesha STEM Academy-Saratoga Campus, had heart complications.

Update: Funeral services for Jake Kelly are scheduled for Monday.

A teacher at passed away while running Monday. Jake Kelly, a popular seventh-grade teacher, had a heart condition, according to an e-mail sent to parents from STEM principals Ryan Krohn and Chris Kluck.

“Please join us in keeping Mr. Kelly’s wife and family in our thoughts,” the e-mail states.

Kelly taught fourth grade at last school year.

“Classroom meetings to share the news with grades 4 through 8 took place this morning,” states the parent notification from the principals. “A team of trained professionals was available to support both staff and students at both campuses throughout the day. Students were given an opportunity to meet individually, as needed. If your child did meet with a support person, you would have or will shortly receive a follow-up phone call to let you know.”
