Private Organization Donates $1 Million to Carroll University

ripples, inc., funding student scholarships and new science facilities

A private organization, ripples, inc., has donated $1 million to for student scholarships and new science facilities, according to a news release from the university.

The organization will donate $500,000 to the Gabriel Fund, which provides scholarships based on financial need for juniors and seniors at the university. That fund was established by ripples in 1994 and has helped more than 60 students, the news release states.

"We deeply appreciate our relationship with ripples, inc. and its principles," Carroll President Douglas Hastad said in the release. "We certainly agree that this gift will have a long-term impact on our students and the quality of science education at Carroll – in this case, a ripples, inc., effect. It will also ultimately encourage the generosity of others. We are so very grateful for the opportunities ripples, inc., is providing Carroll students."

The other half of the funding will be used for a pending project to rebuild and renovate the science facilities.

"In recognition of the regional and national demand for science graduates, the university's strategic plan has prioritized a major renovation of the Carroll science complex," Hastad said. "New science facilities will expand student/faculty research opportunities and enhance the core educational experience for all students, two-thirds of whom aspire to science-related careers.

"Students are majoring in biology and chemistry, as well as nursing, physical therapy, exercise science, athletic training and public health, among others. This very generous gift will help provide the very best facilities for our students and faculty."
