More than 500 children participated in the Waukesha Optimist Club's cross country meet at on Wednesday.

The fifth-grade students came from elementary schools throughout Waukesha to run on the 1.2-mile cross country course.

The Waukesha Optimist Club has been sponsoring the cross country meets for at least 25 years.
